Thanks to All Who Attended the 3rd Annual Field of Dreams Wiffle Ball Tourney!!!

Bruin Shawn ThorntonThanks to all, including Boston Bruin forward Shawn Thornton, for attending the 3rd Annual Field of Dreams Wiffle Ball Tourney played today (May 19, 2012) at the Boston Athletic Club in South Boston. A lot of money has been money for a great cause – that cause being Juvenile Diabetes research. In fact, over the last three years, the Field of Dreams Wiffle Ball tourney has raised over $100,000 for essential research. Said Superintendent Paul Fitzgerald, whose daughter Caroline was diagnosed with the disease some five years ago, “I can’t be a doctor, but I can raise money. And the tourney has certainly allowed us to do just that. To all those who have played or supported our tourney – Mayor Tom Menino, the City of Boston Credit Union, the Boston Athletic Club – we thank you for your unbelievable generosity and continued support.”

Checking into a Hotel is One Thing – Being Asked to Check Out for Bad Behavior is Another

Check Your Noise at the DoorAt about 3:41am, on Thursday, May 17, 2012, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a call for a person or persons producing excessive amounts of noise at 1 Avenue de Lafayette (Hyatt Hotel). On arrival, officers spoke to hotel security personnel who stated that they had received multiple complaints relative to loud and unsettling noises coming from one of the rooms in the hotel. Security personnel further stated that occupants of the room were asked to put an end to the loud noises or face the prospect of being asked to leave the hotel. Despite repeated warnings, the occupants continued to generate disturbing noises. When told they, the occupants, had to leave, the occupants told hotel security they weren’t going anywhere. Officers proceeded to the room to break the bad news to the occupants. Upon entering the room, officers observed several empty beer and wine bottles strewn about the room. While officers were in the middle of providing an explanation as to the occupants had to leave, one individual in particular began yelling and complaining about his rights. When told the hotel had a right to disinvite guests for bad behavior and excessive noise, the individual continued to verbally disrespect and disparage the officers. Officers arrested Joe Shehan, 32, of Chicago and charged him with Disturbing the Peace.
